# SHT85 ## Why choose the SHT85?
There are many low-cost temperature and humidity sensors on the market, starting at a few Eur (e.g. DHT11, DHT22). Moreover, there are other sensors that also measure some other variables (e.g. the SCD30, a CO2 sensor, or the BME280, which is mainly a pressure sensor).
These all are not very reliable: there is a large difference between individual sensors (i.e. some have a systematic bias and consistently show a larger/lower temperature than the "real" temperature), and some of the sensors self-heat...
The SHT85 is considered to be the 'best among the low-cost sensors".
In case the SHT85 is not available (it's likely to sell out fast when it's available, we have waited for a few months for the last delivery), opt for the slightly cheaper but still decent SHT35 which is not supposed to perform much worse than the SHT85.
**It is always a good idea to run an intercomparison of the individual sensors whenever a new batch is ordered, or even better, compare them all to a reference high-quality instrument. Even within one batch, there can be some faulty sensors with large offsets.**
A calibration chamber (temperature + relative humidity) should be available at ACINN.
